The Faculty of Continuing Education for Medical Specialists and Practicing Physicians

Since its inception in 1983 the Faculty, consisting of 24 Departments, has been supporting the advancement of professional skills and retraining Doctors, in 73 different specialties, with over 25,000 specialists having passed through its doors within the past 5 years.

Postgraduate education includes Internship (1-2 years), Residency (3-4 years) and Ph.D. (3-4 years).

Large multi profile medical and health care establishments in Voronezh and Lipetsk serve as the clinical base for the Faculty’s departments and courses. Among them there are the Regional Clinical Hospital, the Regional Pediatric Clinical Hospital, the City Emergency Hospital, the Lipetsk Regional Multi-profile Clinical Hospital No-1, the M. Gorky Cardiological Sanatorium, the Regional Clinical and Diagnostic Health Care Center, Institutions for health and epidemic management and the Regional Antituberculous Institute.

Recently, the Departments of the management of Nursing personal and the requalification of lecturers were added.

Since 1996 Prof. Shapovalova Nina Vladimirovna, Doctor of Medical Science, Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology and Resuscitation , has been the Dean of the Faculty. The main sphere of her professional interests involves the problem of reanimation of severe exotoxic shock.
