Faculty of Medical Education

Founded
in 1992, the Faculty offers international students training
leading up to Degrees in General Medicine, Pediatrics, Dentistry
and Pharmacy and Postgraduate training up to Ph.D. level.
During its 14 years of existence more than 500 foreign specialists
have been educated from 28 countries around the globe, amongst
them, Germany, Greece, Jordan, Iraq, Iran, India, Israel,
Cameroon, Lebanon, Morocco, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Palestine,
Syria, Sudan, Tunisia and Sri Lanka. There has also been
34 foreign Doctors who have undergone there residency training
here and 3 of them have gone on to defend there Ph.D. theses
too.

Education
is offered both in the English and Russian Medium, according
to the choice of the student.
The
English medium program is of 6 year duration in addition
to an Intensive Russian Language Course.
On the other hand, the Russian Medium Program is 7 years,
the 1st preparatory academic year dedicated completely to
study Russian Language including Biology, Chemistry, Physics
and Mathematics in Russian. Modern methods and technology
are used to achieve the above aim.

The
academic year consists of two semesters, Autumn Semester
and the Spring Semester. Examination sessions usually fall
at the beginning of January and end of June. The Medical
Curriculum for foreign students consists of 3 levels.
• Pre-Clinical (1st & 2nd years)
• Clinical Medical Sciences ( 3rd to 6th year)
• Hospital Clerkship ( accompanies the study of clinical
subjects starting from 2nd year)

Clinical
skills are acquired first-hand in 29 affiliated hospitals and
clinical departments. Ward-based teaching with the emphasis on
“clinical thinking and diagnosis” by the future doctors
is encouraged.
Instruction
at the Faculty is carried out by the experienced English speaking
staff of its 44 Departments with 142 Lecturers having scientific
Degrees, of them 55 being Professors of Medical Science. Traditional
forms of teaching (Lectures, Seminars, Practical classes and Hospital
clerkships) are supplemented with modern methods including computer
based instruction, video-based classes, computer aided learning
packagers and evidence based medicine.
The Dean of the Faculty is Bolotskih Vladimir Ivanovich , MD,
Ph.D in Medicine, Professor in the department of Therapy.
